Hidalgo Uses Hurricane Hanna Online Damage Report Tool

Hurricane Hanna cleanupA new online form will make it easier for both county residents and businesses to report damage caused by Hurricane Hanna to county officials. The Hurricane Hanna Self-Reporting Damage Survey allows residents to fill out a form online and submit a request for assistance. It is a creation of the Texas Department of Emergency Management.

The form assists the Office of Emergency Management and partner agencies as they assess and identify damages and needs within the community. Reporting damage to Emergency Management is a voluntary activity. It is not a substitute for reporting damage to an insurance agency nor does it guarantee disaster relief assistance.

“It is vital that residents call their home insurance provider and report claims there first,” said Emergency Management Coordinator Ricardo Saldaña.

How and What to Report

Residents and business owners can report flooding, water leaks, outages and gas leaks. They can also upload photos showing damage to better assist emergency management staff in responding to requests. The form is also available in Spanish.

Residents should accurately report their location. This then allows emergency management to prioritize recovery efforts in the most affected areas.

To fill out a form, visit the county’s Hurricane Hanna webpage.
