This spring, McAllen ISD won its division for the second year in a row in the statewide contest known as It’s Time Texas Community Challenge. Recently, McAllen ISD staff members who finished in the top 10 among individuals received certificates of their achievement in the health and wellness competition.
The honorees included Melissa Leal and Angelica Cazares of Sanchez Elementary; and Erick Morin, Tony Harris and Karen Teverovsky of the Instruction & Guidance Center. Teverovsky was also the overall points leader in this year’s contest.
The It’s Time Texas Community Challenge is a statewide effort to improve health and wellness by pitting communities and school districts against each other in a friendly competition. Points are earned through exercise and healthy eating. Nearly 300 communities across Texas participated in this year’s challenge.
