The South Padre Chamber of Commerce is the recent recipient of two communications awards from the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives. The awards come in the Print and Electronic Publications, and Newsletter categories.
Receiving the awards at the TCCE conference in Rockwall, Texas were chamber President/CEO Alita Bagley and Marketing Director Dianna Harvill.
The chamber won first place for its 2022 Official Guide to South Padre Island in the Print and Electronic Publications category. The chamber also won first place last year for the 2021 Official Guide to South Padre Island.
The primary goal of the guide is to bring tourism, new business and residents to the Island. The chamber has been producing the guide in-house for 22 years under the guidance of Harvill. The annual publication has a distribution of 100,000 copies throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. It is also available on the chamber’s website.
The chamber also won first place for its “In The Know – Are You In The Know?” in the Newsletter category. Harvill redesigned the weekly newsletter in June 2021 to better highlight members and what is going on in the community. The new format is a 3-D flip book with information for members, residents and tourists. Members receive the newsletter by email and it is also available on social media.
“It is a huge honor to be recognized by our peers at TCCE, the professional society of Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives and professional staff, for our communications efforts,” said Harvill. “Both the guide and newsletter are direct representations of the work we do for our business members and another example that reiterates the nature of our work as the only business organization on South Padre Island.”
The TCCE Communication Award Program recognizes Texas chambers for outstanding marketing and communications work each year. Judges this year were from the Texas A&M Department of Communication.
