The Edinburg Chamber of Commerce celebrates its September Member of the Month, Palm Valley Animal Society, with a mixer Sept. 30 at PVAS Laurie P. Andrews Center.

The local animal rescue provides lifesaving care, comfort and compassion to animals in need by engaging the hearts, hands and minds of our community. PVAS is celebrating its 15-year membership anniversary.

PVAS serves five municipalities in Hidalgo County, as well as the county at-large. It operates two facilities in Edinburg, taking in approximately 25,000 animals on behalf of 775,000 residents each year. PVAS is on a journey to maintain “no-kill” status, broadly defined as saving 90 percent or more of the animals that enter into their care.
