WESLACO MID VALLEY AIRPORT IS READY FOR TAKEOFF

New Runway paves the way for growth in the entire Rio Grande Valley

Weslaco—The recently named Airport of the Year now celebrates improved runway capabilities, making it an ideal choice for corporate and business aviation in the Rio Grande Valley.

“Centrally located, Weslaco Mid Valley Airport is the best equipped to serve the corporate and business needs of the entire Rio Grande Valley, offering U.S. Customs and easy access to shopping centers, industrial complexes, and major highway corridors,” said Mayor David Suarez. “With the recently competed runway extension project to accommodate larger aircraft, we are realizing our vision for our airport is to be an active and economically vibrant regional contributor to the entire Rio Grande Valley.”

With a total runway length of 6,002 feet, large corporate and business jets may easily navigate a smooth and safe landing surface. And with GPS instrument approach capabilities, the airport can accommodate all weather conditions.

“The new runway project provides an opportunity for the airport to reintroduce itself to the aviation community,” said Andrew Munoz, Aviation Director. “We are hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, June 9 and a fly-in event on Saturday, June 10 so the community can celebrate their airport’s transformation and pilots around Texas can capitalize on some of the best infrastructure in the entire Valley.”

Without the congestion of commercial airlines, arguably this airport is the most convenient for business travelers. Strategically located within the Mid Valley and adjacent to the Weslaco Industrial Park, manufacturing, freight, or other light industrial operations are just a wingspan away.

International travelers, too, can discover the convenience of this airport with a U.S. Customs facility onsite. It is the only No-Fee Port of Entry General Aviation airport on the Texas border.

The Weslaco Mid Valley Airport Runway Expansion Ribbon Cutting was held Friday, June 9, 2017,  and a Fly-In Event took place on Saturday, June 10, 2017.
