Walk For Women hosts a Silent Dance Party at Louie's Backyard Oct. 10 with three channels of music to choose from. The silent disco is an event where people dance to music listened to on wireless headphones. Rather than using a speaker system, music is broadcast via a radio transmitter with the signal being picked up by wireless headphone receivers worn by the participants. Walk For Women honors the breast cancer survivors, fighters and thrivers, and remember those we have lost but who remain in our hearts. Registration is from 8:30-10 a.m. at the South Padre Island Convention Centre. The walk starts promptly at 10 am. and will also end at the convention centre. South Padre Island Mariachi Run is now the South Padre Island Muzicians Run 5k/10k. The event takes place Nov. 6 with a running course infused with live entertainment. Everyone is invited to participate in this non-timed fun run/walk.
