Leadership classes begin in September and conclude in May. Participants meet once a month for tours, seminars and hands-on learning experiences. Session topics include government, healthcare, education, media and other important community issues. Leadership Mid-Valley brings together top-level business, civic, and government leaders for open conversation on the future of both Weslaco and surrounding areas. Every class is assigned a project and fundraiser that must be complete before the graduation date.  In addition, every year the Leadership class and alumni take a trip to the state capitol. Here, they have the opportunity to meet with various state officials, legislators and lobbyists.

Applications for the Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce initiative are available online. Candidates should either live or work in the Mid-Valley area.
