McAllen International Airport welcomed representatives from Delta Air Lines to launch their first nonstop flight to Austin on April 22.
“McAllen has made travel between the Valley and Austin easier than ever,” said City of McAllen Mayor Javier Villalobos.
Nonstop flights between McAllen and the state capital now depart daily from McAllen International Airport.
“A growing Rio Grande Valley needed a non-stop flight with multiple frequencies a day connecting to Austin,” said McAllen City Manager Roel “Roy” Rodriguez “The Rio Grande Valley can now connect with a center of government and business through the Valley’s preferred airport here in McAllen.”
Expanding Connections
Delta is the third new air carrier to bring a new nonstop route to McAllen International Airport in 2024. Other non-stops include Mexico City through Aeromexico, Cancun through Volaris and Tampa-St. Petersburg through Allegiant Air.
“Delta is an outstanding partner to help us bring nonstop flights to Austin from McAllen,” said McAllen International Airport Director of Aviation Jeremy Santoscoy. “Delta offers our travelers an efficient and reliable connection with one of the most important cities in Texas.”
“This expansion not only creates an access point to diverse opportunities for business, leisure, and cultural exploration spanning Texas and beyond but also solidifies Delta’s continued commitment to being a key player in South Texas’s evolving landscape,” said Kanye Harris, Delta’s regional sales manager. “Three daily flights offer exclusive access to this city at the southernmost tip of Texas, conveniently close to the popular leisure destination of South Padre Island. We are excited about the continued partnership,”
