The 2025 edition of H-E-B’s Quest for Texas Best competition is down to 10 finalists and one of them is based in McAllen. Sully Villareal’s Deli Spice Cooking Spices has made the cut among more than 370 products up for H-E-B’s review.
An H-E-B press release states about Deli Spice, “Every blend is tested by families and perfected by a Mexican mom in Texas to help people cook authentic birria in under 30 minutes with restaurant-level flavor and reviving the Villareal family’s memories with every bite.”
On Sept. 25, Deli Spice will join other finalists in presenting their products and sharing their stories in front of a panel of judges selected by H-E-B in San Antonio, where the company is headquartered. The panel of judges will determine the top four winning products and award $50,000 to the Grand Prize winner, the title of “Texas Best”, and placement on store shelves; $25,000 to the first-place winner; $15,000 to the second-place winner; and $10,000 to the third-place winner.
