Brownsville Attorney Receives State-wide Recognition

Victor A. Flores is the recipient of the 2021 “Rising Advocate in Government Law Award” from the State Bar of Texas – Government Law Council. Flores is an attorney with the Brownsville City Attorney’s Office.

The annual award recognizes one Texas governmental entity lawyer who has made outstanding contributions to the practice of government law practice and serving the public.

Flores’s service includes legal counsel to several communities in South and North Texas throughout his legal career. This includes legal counsel for Rio Grande City and assistant city attorney in McAllen. His past service also includes deputy city attorney in Denton and assistant city attorney III for Plano.

Flores was recognized for his contributions as a speaker and author at various state-wide seminars for attorneys practicing government law. He has also authored an article on government law for the Texas Bar Journal’s annual Year in Review feature.

Flores’s past service also includes past president for the Texas Young Lawyers Association. Other contributions and service include the State Bar of Texas board of directors, Texas Bar Foundation board of trustees, Texas Bar Journal board of editors and American Bar Association house of delegates.
