Manufacturing Investment Coming to McAllen

ValeoValeo, a global automotive technology leader, will establish new U.S. manufacturing operations in McAllen. This announcement came recently through the McAllen Economic Development Corporation, in partnership with the City of McAllen and Hidalgo County.

Headquartered in Paris, France, Valeo is a leading automotive technology company with operations in more than 30 countries worldwide, serving major automakers with advanced technologies that support vehicle safety, electrification, connectivity and next-generation mobility. Valeo’s decision to invest in McAllen represents a significant expansion of advanced manufacturing in South Texas and reinforces the city’s position within the regional and binational automotive supply chain.

“Valeo is pleased to expand our U.S. manufacturing footprint with this new facility in McAllen,” said Jeffrey Shay, President of Valeo North America. “McAllen offers a highly skilled workforce, a strategic location within the North American automotive corridor, and strong collaboration among local and regional partners. This investment will support our customers with advanced, innovative technologies while contributing to the continued growth of the U.S. automotive industry.”

The project includes the development of a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in McAllen and is expected to create up to 500 new jobs, and an investment of $225 million. At the facility, Valeo will produce transformative automotive technology that advances the future of mobility and strengthens domestic manufacturing capacity.

“This announcement marks an important moment for McAllen and our region,” said Elizabeth Suarez, president and CEO of the McAllen EDC. “This project did not happen overnight. It reflects years of work to prepare our community, strengthen our sites and build relationships that make opportunities like this possible. When this project came down to a final decision, McAllen was ready. We are proud to support an investment that brings high-quality jobs and continues to elevate our position in advanced manufacturing.”

“McAllen continues to attract world-class companies that recognize the value of doing business here,” said Javier Villalobos, Mayor of McAllen. “Valeo’s decision to build in McAllen reflects our city’s business-friendly environment, international connectivity and talented workforce. This investment not only brings significant capital and job creation to our community but also strengthens our role as a key player in the North American automotive supply chain.”

“Hidalgo County is committed to fostering economic growth that creates opportunity for our residents,” said Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez. “Valeo’s investment represents a major milestone for the Rio Grande Valley and reinforces our region’s capacity to support advanced manufacturing at a global scale. We are proud to partner with the City of McAllen and MEDC to bring high-quality jobs and long-term economic impact to our county.”

Valeo’s investment further strengthens the Rio Grande Valley’s role in advanced automotive manufacturing and technology-driven industries, while contributing to long-term economic resilience and workforce development.
