Frank Limon looks over a May calendar of graduation parties, school awards banquets and the wedding and quinceanera celebrations that are the staples of his Diamond Moon Events.

The Iraq War combat veteran found the outlet he was looking for with an event planning business that takes him from Brownsville-to-Edinburg. His work includes big affairs like state-of-city events to family gatherings celebrating important milestones. In May alone, Limon and his Harlingen-based staff had 18 events to tend to, and the months ahead looked just as busy.
“For me, this business has helped me a lot in focusing on something else,” he said, referencing issues related to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and his years in Iraq. “There are so many details I have to focus on with this business. It has become my outlet.”
Customizing Events
Limon views Diamond Moon as a “one-stop shop” for clients looking to arrange an event, no matter the size, be it large or more intimate.
At his offices in downtown Harlingen, Limon offers space for demos where clients can pick items on hand to set up the look and design they want for their event. Linens, flowers and an array of other party and event accessories can be selected and arranged with Limon’s guidance in creating the event demonstration.

Limon wants clients to feel that the event will be unique to their celebrations. Competitors in his line of work will often offer basic templates, Limon says, and from there, state, ‘this is what we have, which one do you want?’ ’’
In contrast, Diamond Moon features customized settings to a client’s wishes.
“It’s a lot of process with a lot of legwork behind it, (event),” he said. “They (clients) handpick the individual items. I want them to have what they envisioned for their event.”
Next Big Step
The legwork Limon speaks of can be extensive.
Diamond Moon recently organized Edinburg’s State of The City event in which 700 people attended. It included setting up 75 tables with all of the event’s decor and staging, linens, chair covers, flowers, and table setups. It takes days to set up an event of that size and incorporate the dining needs of meals and desserts.

Limon has set up similar city events in Harlingen, Brownsville, and South Padre Island. It’s a strong indicator of Diamond Moon’s capabilities to take on big events while being more than willing to handle smaller events that mean so much to families. Wedding receptions, graduation parties, baby showers and gender reveals are intimate events that will live on in the memories of its celebrants. Limon makes sure with his attention to detail that they came away from those gatherings with the best of recollections.
“That’s our main priority,” he said. “We want the client to have a pleasant experience and feel like we gave them what was promised.”
Diamond Moon will soon take its next big step when Limon books and organizes events at a newly renovated 6,500-square-foot facility in Harlingen. The Majestic Event Center on north Commerce is owned by local businessman Jesse Flores who is partnering with Limon to bring events to the new venue. Diamond Moon will have exclusivity to the venue and will provide Limon the opportunity to fashion The Majestic to his liking in partnering with Flores.
“He’s trusting us to run it,” Limon said of Flores. “It’s exciting for us to take this big step. It’s going to be a beautiful venue for us and for the community.”
