This new partnership between the airport and SPI creates new connectivity which allows travelers to experience both destinations while visiting. McAllen International Airport currently welcomes travelers from nine nonstop destinations throughout the U.S. and Mexico.
This pilot shuttle service program operates on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
“The City of McAllen is always working to bring the best to its visitors, and this new shuttle service will enhance the experience of traveling through our airport,” said McAllen Mayor Javier Villalobos. “We had a great summer in the City of McAllen; we observed a reassuring increase in airport activity that lead us to continue the efforts in offering the best amenities to passengers that choose our airport.”
“McAllen travelers and partners are a priority, and we want to make sure they are well accommodated when they come to our city,” said City Manager Roel “Roy” Rodriguez, P.E. “Free transportation to the South Padre Island adds to the value of flying in and out of MFE without increasing airfares. The complimentary shuttle service will allow passengers to visit McAllen and take some days off at the beach.”
