Cory Carswell, director of Power Supply and Market Operations for the Brownsville Public Utilities Board, has been elected to represent municipally owned utilities on the Electric Reliability Council of Texas Wholesale Market Subcommittee.
The Wholesale Market Subcommittee is a voting body that reports to ERCOT’s Technical Advisory Committee, which in turn advises the ERCOT board of directors. WMS plays a critical role in shaping market rules and reviewing key issues related to how the wholesale electricity market operates across the ERCOT region. This includes evaluating competitive constraints, ancillary services, resource adequacy, transmission-related concerns and overall market performance.
Carswell’s election strengthens BPUB’s ability to provide informed input on policy and operational matters that directly affect utilities across Texas. His extensive experience in real-time grid operations, market analysis, and market design positions him to bring a strong and informed voice to statewide discussions.
“We are extremely proud of Cory’s selection to the WMS,” said Marilyn D. Gilbert, BPUB general manager and CEO. “His expertise in market operations and his deep understanding of ERCOT’s evolving competitive environment will help ensure that the interests of municipally owned utilities – and the customers we serve – are effectively represented.”
