Keep McAllen Beautiful is enhancing the streets of McAllen one standpipe at a time, but a bigger canvas needs artistic improvements and one of McAllen’s own will get that chance. KMB and Don’t Mess with Texas are seeking submissions of original artwork for the McAllen’s next great outdoor mural.
The mural will be on the 408-foot wall located along Pecan Boulevard and 2nd Street. Funding is provided by the City of McAllen and Don’t Mess with Texas campaign. KMB will provide project materials and will provide a stipend to the artist.
Participation rules are as follows:
- Design concept should be submitted to KMB with artist’s portfolio or previous works in JPEG, PNG or PDF format, along with any explanatory notes the artist may want to include.
- Artwork must be designed to fit the wall.
- Design should incorporate a Don’t Mess with Texas logo and the spirit of the litter prevention campaign.
The Don’t Mess with Texas campaign is the Texas Department of Transportation’s signature initiative for litter prevention which serves to educate the public. KMB will contact the entrants after the selection process to let them know if they were selected.
