A temporary TSA Pre✓ application center will be open at McAllen International Airport April 16-18.
“We’re pleased to offer this enrollment opportunity to those who live in or around McAllen,” said TSA Federal Security Director Jess Presas. “Travelers can pre-enroll online at tsa.gov and make an appointment at the McAllen International Airport enrollment center to complete the application process.” Walk-ins also are accepted on a space-available basis.
The temporary application center will be open daily from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. and also 2-6 p.m. The application center is near the rental car counters on the east side of the terminal near baggage claim.
Travelers who are enroll in TSA Pre✓ may keep on their shoes, belts and light outerwear jacket when going through airport security. They may also leave their laptops and liquid 3-1-1 bags inside their carry-on bags when transiting the checkpoint. Travel programs such as Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Global Entry, SENTRI or NEXUS do the same. The application fee is $85, which covers a five-year membership. The fee is due at the application center by credit card, money order, company check or certified/cashier’s check. Cash and personal checks are not accepted. Enrollees will need to bring documentation proving identity and citizenship or legal residency status. Fingerprint collection is part of completing a background check.
Successful applicants will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN), which they can access online in about a week. Passengers should enter the KTN when booking airline reservations online via a participating airline website, via phone call to the airline reservation center, or with the travel management company making reservations.
