TSC Introduces New Online Degree Programs

TSC is introducing five new online associate degree programs fall 2022.

Beginning with the fall semester, Texas Southmost College will expand its offerings with five new, fully online degree programs. The new online programs will include Social Work, Criminal Justice, Business, Teaching 4th – 8th Grade and Teaching 8th – 12th Grade.  These new program offerings are in addition to the college’s online General Studies program. TSC Dean of Humanities Brian McCormack said introducing these fully online degrees is a game changer for…

TSC Offers New Substitute Teacher Course

At the request of local superintendents, Texas Southmost College is now offering a Substitute Teacher course. The 12-hour course, introduced by TSC’s Workforce Training and Continuing Education department, is designed to produce well-trained and prepared substitutes to enter the classroom. Texas Southmost College representatives receive a $30,000 Texas Mutual Workforce Grant by RGV Focus during a recent check presentation ceremony.

A $30,000 Texas Mutual Workforce Grant was recently presented to Texas Southmost College from RGV Focus to help ensure opportunities for TSC faculty and students. The grant will allow students to earn certifications in credit and non-credit workforce programs at TSC in specific skill sets. A new era of technology was recently celebrated at Texas Southmost College with a grand opening and ribbon cutting for the Associate Degree in Nursing program’s new state-of-the-art nursing simulation lab.  The new simulation lab’s design at the TSC International Technology, Education and Commerce Center resembles a hospital floor. The Texas Workforce Commission has awarded Texas Southmost College and their partner SteelCoast Company LLC a $283,325 Skills Development Fund grant. The grant will benefit workers in the Workforce Solutions Cameron area. This grant will help create 170 new jobs while providing upskilling for an additional 80 workers.
