Update: As of May 20, 2020, the Causeway Run and Fitness Walk has been cancelled for this year.

Port Isabel’s sixth annual Causeway Run and Fitness Walk has a new date. Runners and walkers alike can look forward to Aug. 22 to cross the 2.6-mile Queen Isabella Causeway on foot.

The annual event was originally scheduled for June 6, yet was postponed by the Port Isabel Chamber of Commerce due to ongoing health concerns with COVID-19.

“Whether it’s self-satisfaction, a sense of achievement, or pure love of our coastal area, stay motivated and keep training,” states the race website. “Together, we will weather through it.”

Both the 10K and 5K courses are USATF certified. Details for the rescheduled Causeway Run and Fitness Walk are coming soon.

Early registration is $35 for the individual 10K run. A discount registration for the 10K applies for students and military at $20 per runner. Registration for the walking 5K is $30 general public, $20 for students and military. Sponsorships are available.

Runners may print out a registration form and fax or mail it to the chamber. Online registration is also available.
