Steps for Stroke Bringing Awareness & Movement

Steps for StrokeDuring National Stroke Awareness Month, the South Texas Health System Neurosciences and Stroke Institute presents Steps for Stroke May 21-27. The community competition raises awareness of the warning signs of stroke while educating the community of ways to reduce risks of having one.

During the virtual week-long challenge, participants will commit to run, walk or even dance their way to a minimum of 10,000 steps per day and 50,000 steps total. The official challenge website will provide a place to log steps.

The challenge kicks off in person May 21 at the official Steps for Stroke Pep Rally at the South Texas Health System McAllen courtyard area (301 West Exp. 83). Along with packet pickup, the event includes aerobic activities throughout the day.

Late registration is $30 and available online at STHSActive.com. Fees include a t-shirt (not guaranteed during late registration) and medal. All proceeds benefit a local charity to provide stroke education in the community.
