The Brownsville Public Utilities Board is accepting applications through March 9 for ten $2,000 Project SHARE Scholarships that will go to graduating high school seniors whose households have a BPUB utility account for water, wastewater or electric service.
To be eligible for the Project SHARE Scholarship, applicants must have a BPUB account at their primary residence for at least one year prior to the application deadline. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors and plan to attend an accredited college or university in the United States. All majors are welcome to apply.
To be considered, applicants must submit a completed and signed BPUB Project SHARE Scholarship Application, and a recent BPUB utility bill from their parent or guardian. Further application requirements include an Academic Data Verification form signed by their school counselor, and a typed essay of 500-600 words.
The application period ends on March 9 at 5 p.m. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
After selecting scholarship recipients, BPUB will send checks directly to students to assist with their educational expenses. This scholarship can help cover tuition, moving expenses, books, laptops and other education-related costs.
