Weslaco EDC & UTRGV Launch Kauffman FastTrac

Kauffman FastTrac ProgramThe Economic Development Corporation of Weslaco is partnering with the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Entrepreneurship & Commercialization Center to bring the Kauffman FastTrac Program to Weslaco.

The nationally recognized program equips aspiring entrepreneurs and existing business owners with the tools, resources and knowledge to successfully launch, manage and grow their businesses.

This seven-week program provides 21 hours of in-person instruction and will begin on May 9. It is open to up to 10 participants, consisting of five current business owners and five startups, offering them an opportunity to develop and refine their business strategies under expert guidance of UTRGV ECC.

The cost of the program is $1,000 per participant.

“We are committed to fostering a strong entrepreneurial ecosystem in Weslaco,” said Steven M. Valdez, executive director of Weslaco EDC. “The Kauffman FastTrac Program provides an invaluable foundation for both emerging startups and existing businesses, helping them navigate challenges, refine their models, and position themselves for long-term success.”

To ensure accessibility, the $1,000 program cost will be split 50/50 between Weslaco EDC and the participant, reducing the financial burden on the entrepreneur. After successful completion of the program, participants will be fully reimbursed their 50 percent contribution.
