Texas Cook’ Em: High Steaks makes its return July 4 in Edinburg, complete with vendors, live music, car show, a children’s fun area and its state championship barbecue competition. The event is free.

Texas Cook’Em is one of Texas’s biggest BBQ purse, awarding $16,000 to the winners. Competitors battle it out to cook the best chicken, ribs, pork brisket and rib-eye for money and bragging rights.

A performance by Def Leggend, a tribute to Def Leppard, will kick-off the free concert. At sunset, a fireworks display will commence, followed by the performance of American Country Award winner Easton Corbin.
