On April 20, the Friends of Quinta Mazatlan will host Moon over Mazatlan, Noche De Flamenco, at the urban sanctuary in McAllen. The evening celebrates its 17th anniversary and works to raise funds for the Center for Urban Ecology at Quinta Mazatlan.
This year, Friends of Quinta Mazatlan will honor an individual promoting and advancing the educational goals of the Center, Guy Bailey, president of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
“I am extremely proud to accept this honor from the Friends of Quinta Mazatlan because it reflects the hard work of many others at UTRGV who help ensure that a thriving partnership exists between our two entities,” Bailey said. “Quinta Mazatlan is truly one of the Valley’s greatest treasures, and we are excited about the forthcoming Center for Urban Ecology, which will promote research, appreciation of nature, and model cultural and ecological sustainability for learners of all ages.”
The stylish evening takes place outdoors at the estate in McAllen. The Noche De Flamenco evening features Susys Dance “Sachenka and the Soul Healers,” Flamenco & Paella Night by Kokos Catering, Spanish Guitarist Mario Aleman, UTRGV Ballet Espanol Dance, Ache de Barrio Latin Dance Band, Legacy Award Program, spirits and more.
Sponsorships are available through Gala Chairwoman Sally Fraustro Guerra, other board members and Colleen Hook at Quinta Mazatlan, 956-681-3370.
