Christopher Hopkins is the new assistant director of the Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport. Hopkins now manages airside, landside, security, ground transportation and terminal operations for the airport.
Hopkins brings more than 22 years of industry experience in aviation, security, business finance, contract negotiations and public safety. Most recently, he worked for Aviation Events & Consulting, a firm specializing in lease negotiations and business development of airport space.
Previously, Hopkins was vice president of Aviation and Government Services for HSS, chief business officer and chief operating officer for Falken Dynamix Corporation, and chief operating officer for Wings Over the Rockies – Exploration of Flight.
“The City of Brownsville and one of its economic drivers, the Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport, are poised for future economic growth,” said Hopkins. “Under the leadership of the city manager, Helen Ramirez, I look forward to working with the great team at BRO to help bring a great experience to our traveling passengers. Whether it be a first experience or one of many, I would like our guests to return a pleasurable impression of the airport to their family, friends and colleagues.”
Hopkins earned a bachelor’s degree in Accountancy/Criminology/International Studies from the University of South Florida. He also received a bachelor’s in Aviation/Aerospace and Airport Management from Metropolitan State University. He is a certified member of the American Association of Airport Executives and is a private pilot.
