Inaugural Monterrey Flight Takes Off From MFE

On April 22, the McAllen International Airport celebrated Aeromar’s inaugural international nonstop flights to and from Monterrey International Airport (MTY). The new nonstop route is the Rio Grande Valley’s very first to Monterrey.

“The relationship between our communities is vital and will only flourish with our new nonstop flight,” said McAllen Mayor Jim Darling. “Our airport is leading the region in creating these connections. We are grateful for our partnership with Aeromar and we are excited about future opportunities to connect with Mexico and beyond.”

The first flight from McAllen International Airport to Monterrey departed at 1:15 p.m. with applause and special gifts for all travelers. Aeromar was on site to commemorate the sendoff.

“Even in these challenging times, we remain strongly committed to enhancing the connectivity between Mexico and McAllen, with increased departures and two routes now in place starting today,” said Fabricio Cojuc, Aeromar executive director of Network Strategy and Alliances. “We’re excited to see what the future holds for McAllen”

The inaugural flight from Monterrey arrived at 4:10 p.m. Here, it was met with a water cannon salute from McAllen’s own Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting. The full flight of 72 passengers were treated to a McAllen Warm Welcome Event. This included MFE commemorative welcome bags, greetings from various hospitality partners and McAllen’s official welcome refreshment of Border Buttermilk.

The flights will operate year‐round, initially on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Each flight features state-of-the-art ATR 72‐600 equipment seating 72 passengers. They will depart McAllen at 13:15 and arrive in Monterrey at 14:15. Return flights will depart Monterrey at 15:10 and arrive in McAllen at 16:10.
