The Mission Economic Development Corporation will host 2023 Tesla Takeover, the Rio Grande Valley’s first Tesla car show and tech expo, on July 1. The day marks the 20th anniversary of the company’s founding.
The event will also mark the first time that Tesla drivers gather for a festival-style car show in South Texas.
The Takeover takes place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Center for Education and Economic Development at 801 North Bryan Road in Mission. It will offer the latest in tech research, guest speakers, food and fun.
Mission EDC partnered with the Tesla Service Center in Brownsville, South Texas Technology Campus, Brand Geniuz and 5X5 Brewing Co. to launch the inaugural event.
Admission to the Takeover is free for the general public, but there is a $20 fee for Tesla owners who wish to showcase their vehicles.
However, the first 100 Tesla drivers to register will receive a brunch voucher and a commemorative t-shirt. Each will also receive a pint of 5X5’s latest brew, S3XY, an electric IPA that pays homage to Tesla’s four electric vehicle models. Brewed specifically for the event, the IPA will feature hints of citrus to balance out the hops.
Non-Tesla drivers may also attend and experience the high-tech exhibits, food trucks and even free rides in Tesla cars, courtesy of the Tesla Service Center in Brownsville.
Tesla drivers interested in showcasing their vehicles should register online.
