A gift of $5.000 is going to the South Texas College Valley Scholars program from ERO Architects. The firm and college came together recently for a check presentation, confirming ERO Architect’s role as a Diamond sponsor for the program’s annual “Night with the Stars” gala.

Fittingly, the site of the check presentation was STC’s new Nursing and Allied Health Building B. The four-story addition was designed by ERO Architects.

Principal and Chief Marketing Officer for ERO Architects Brian Godinez says ERO staff holds a strong bond with STC.

“We are an annual contributor for ‘A Night with the Stars Gala’ and we have such a strong commitment to education,” explained Godinez. “South Texas College holds such a personal relationship with all of our staff.”

STC Vice President of Academic Affairs Anahid Petrosian says this donation is greatly appreciated by the program.

“It is a perfect example of local businesses partnering with South Texas College to improve the region’s economic prosperity through higher education,” said Petrosian. “The Valley Scholars Program is thankful for the Diamond Sponsorship from ERO Architects and applauds their commitment to supporting students in the Rio Grande Valley.”

Since 1997, STC’s Valley Scholars Program recognizes and promotes academic excellence of academically gifted and highly motivated students from Hidalgo and Starr counties. The program provides financial assistance, academic support services, mentoring and leadership development. Support from local businesses and corporate sponsors enables the program to provide up to $2,000 in scholarship funds. All scholarships go to Valley Scholars students pursuing an associate degree at South Texas College.

“Night with the Stars” takes place Oct. 10. The evening also honors supporters of higher education and celebrates the accomplishments of Valley Scholars students. Tickets are $50 and are available for purchase online.
