Walk For Women
Walk For Women honors the breast cancer survivors, fighters and thrivers, and remember those we have lost but who remain in our hearts. Registration is from 8:30-10 a.m. at the South Padre Island Convention Centre. The walk starts promptly at 10 am. and will also end at the convention centre. Mission Lions Market Days
Join friends and neighbors for Mission Lions Market Days Oct. 9. The market includes arts and crafts, antiques, jewelry, clothing, food and music. Free community bingo is also part of the event. The market takes place every month on the second Saturday.
Weslaco Museum Saturday Speaker – Lisa Adam
The Weslaco Museum presents Lisa Adam for an encore event on her book “xuai” Oct. 9 at 2 p.m. Adam is an anthropologist whose research lead her on a journey to “the whispered and fragmented words" of the ancient Coahuiltecan peoples of south Texas and northern Mexico. With Spanish missions dominating the area, many of the natives were converted to Christianity. Through those missions, words were translated from native languages…
