Baxter Lofts Rises to the Occasion

Baxter Lofts ribbon cuttingWhat eyesore? Those days behind us. Building ownership, Harlingen officials and regional business leaders gathered Nov. 6 for the official Baxter Lofts grand opening and ribbon cutting.

To top things off, all units are also currently under lease at the Downtown Harlingen high rise residential property. “It’s another great day in the City of Harlingen,” proclaimed Mayor Chris Boswell.

After decades of being uninhabited, private funds (not tax money) brought a historic landmark back to life in a huge way. Tenants enjoy a downstairs courtyard, fitness room and more all while appreciating much of the original Baxter Building’s original architectural uniqueness. This project is the culmination of many individuals’ hard work from the Valley to Austin.

Baxter Lofts is a grand example of what happens when local business and community leaders don’t give up on an idea benefiting Harlingen area citizens. It also brings a great improvement to the Jackson Street shopping and dining district.

My thirty years in the media world has primarily focused on marketing, advertising and writing. This industry is my passion. I have been blessed to serve customers with marketing consulting, advertising concepts, video production and promotion of all forms - broadcast, print and digital. My occupation is a fun job but not work. The opportunity to put clients and customers together awakens me early. Learning clients and their businesses enables me to create effective multimedia advertising campaigns. My media life led me to deep South Texas in 2004 to co-found The Business Times of the Rio Grande Valley and then the Valley Business Report in 2009. This south Louisiana native is proud to call the Rio Grande Valley my home.
