McAllen Heart Hospital is one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for both cardiac care and coronary intervention. The 2018 honors come from Healthgrades. The organization identifies the 100 best-performing hospitals across all conditions or procedures evaluated within both cardiac care and coronary intervention. Healthgrades evaluated nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide for 34 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions. This is the second year in a row the South Texas Health System hospital has received the honor.
The Healthgrades report demonstrates how clinical performance continues to differ dramatically between hospitals from locally to nationally. It also shows the impact that this variation may have on health outcomes.
“Many consumers believe that hospital quality is standardized, though the reality is that clinical quality and outcomes at hospitals vary widely across the country,” said Dr. Brad Bowman, Healthgrades chief medical officer. “The hospitals that have achieved the Healthgrades America’s 100 Best Hospitals for cardiac care and coronary intervention distinction have demonstrated a commitment to exceptional quality of care. They can distinguish themselves to consumers seeking care at high-quality facilities.”
“It’s such a tremendous privilege that such a highly awarded program for quality of care resides right here in Hidalgo County,” said McAllen Heart Hospital CEO Dan Caldwell. “It’s a great asset for people in life-threatening situations and they come here and encounter our wonderful physicians and staff. I love being a part of that.”
McAllen Heart Hospital is also the recipient of Excellence Awards for cardiac care, coronary intervention and cardiac surgery. Adding to the accolades is being a Five-Star recipient for valve surgery, treatment of heart attack, coronary interventional procedures, and coronary bypass surgery.
