Delta Air Lines is now selling tickets for three daily nonstop flights from McAllen International Airport to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport beginning April 22.
The new year-round route will operate three daily flights connecting McAllen via MFE with an essential destination for business and education. With the addition of this new route, McAllen International Airport will now serve seven nonstops.
In Delta’s recent announcement, Joe Esposito, Delta’s S.V.P. – Network Planning, states: “This expansion not only creates an access point to diverse opportunities for business, leisure and cultural exploration spanning Texas and beyond but also solidifies Delta’s commitment to being a key player in Austin’s evolving landscape. Austin is growing rapidly, and this 20 percent increase in capacity mirrors that growth as we look to provide our customers with unparalleled convenience in the region.”
“We are thrilled to announce our new partnership with Delta Air Lines and are excited to launch this essential service to Austin,” said McAllen Mayor Javier Villalobos. “This route will connect our McAllen community with business, educational opportunities, and family and friends. This new convenient non-stop service to the Texas’ capital was much needed and we are proud to operate this air service in Spring of 2024.”
“McAllen residents have a natural connection to Austin for business, and education but also is a great leisure gateway for entertainment, culture and arts,” said McAllen City Manager Roel “Roy” Rodriguez. “The City of McAllen celebrates this key nonstop at our McAllen International Airport, but most importantly we are excited to welcome Delta Air Lines to enhanced travel opportunities and bring more connectivity to the Rio Grande Valley.”
