McAllen Public Library kicks off its seventh annual South Texas Book Festival Oct. 29, going virtual and including literary sessions for adults.
At 7 p.m. Oct. 29, adults may join “Poetry & Wine: An Evening of Literature” with two celebrated poets from South Texas. Participants can enjoy a favorite beverage at home while listening to 2020 Texas Poet Laureate Emmy Perez and Jose Antonio Rodriguez. Both will read from their books of poetry.
Oct. 30 will showcase “South Texas Reads!,” a citywide literary event. During this time, the festival encourages members of the South Texas community to read the same book at the same time. Following is a live Q&A session at 7 p.m. This year’s book is “Your Hidden Superpower” featuring Adrienne Bankert, an Emmy-winning national news correspondent with ABC News.
Both of these sessions will stream on the McAllen Public Library Facebook page at facebook.com/mcallenlibrary.
