McAllen ISD To Participate in Fitness Challenge

Time Texas Community ChallengeMcAllen ISD is inviting staff, the community and parents to participate in the annual It’s Time Texas Community Challenge. The statewide effort instills healthy habits among Texans through friendly competition between communities.

Participants earn points through a variety of easy endeavors promoting good health. McAllen ISD finished second among school districts in the entire state last year in the “Mid-size” category.  The distrct’s contribution was also instrumental in the City of McAllen winning the challenge in the “Large” category two years in a row.

McAllen ISD staff, parents, children ages 13 and up, and community members can now register for the Time Texas Community Challenge for free online.

By registering before Jan. 3, registrants will receive 250 bonus points on their account. Once registered, participants will receive a link to the Community Challenge app. Here, they can input points and track their healthy habits from Jan. 4 to Feb. 28.

During the eight-week challenge, participants will be able to earn wellness points daily. Participants may earn points through a fitness tracker, by posting healthy selfies, through water consumption, watching a video on health and other ways.

There is also an app that participants can download. It provides the tools to log healthy activities, set and achieve new healthy goals, find socially distanced events and offers chances to win prizes.

To register, visit ittcommunitychallenge.com. Click on “Standard Registration,” then “Click to Register” and populate information. For community,  input “McAllen” and input “YES” to contribute points to your school district. Then choose “McAllen ISD,” select a school and then submit.

When registering, it is important participants include both “McAllen ISD” and “your campus” in the profile so credit for points will go toward both entities.
