“Fill the Bus” Accepting Donations Today

The eighth annual “Fill the Bus” is going on today, Aug. 8, at the Shary H-E-B until 6:30 p.m. The one-day event accepts donations of school supplies and backpacks, with those making donations of a value of $25 receiving a free Schlitterbahn ticket. Donations of a value of $40 receive two free Schlitterbahn tickets.

All donations benefit the school tools program through the RGV Food Bank. Channel 4 is serving as co-hosts.

School Tools is a local program which began in 1999 through the RGV Food Bank. It currently benefits 50 underprivileged elementary schools, and approximately 1,300 teachers and 33,000 students. Teachers must apply to be apart of the program and registration is currently open. The program is a free store at the RGV Food Bank where teachers who teach at the qualified schools can shop for free.

She has known from an early age that she had a love for journalism and media and spent her time in high school and college as part of the school yearbook, newspaper, and television station. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Texas Pan-American and immediately went on to earn her Master of Arts in Advertising from the University of Texas at Austin. With her husband, she owns her own business in which she uses her creativity to design and sell party printables as well as build, refinish, and paint wood items such as door hangers, decorations, and furniture. She also spends time with her family, husband, two daughters and sweet animals. A few of the things she loves… reading, purple, butterflies, the beach, chocolate, flowers, animals, good quotes, roller coasters and Chinese food.
