Olympic softball pitcher Monica Abbot Power threw out the first pitch Aug. 18, officially opening the new and improved McAllen Municipal Softball Complex. The eighth annual “Fill the Bus” is going on today, Aug. 8, at the Shary H-E-B until 6:30 p.m. The one-day event accepts donations of school supplies and backpacks, with those making donations of a value of $25 receiving a free Schlitterbahn ticket. Harlingen Dedicates New Convention Center

City officials and community leaders gathered May 1 for a ceremony and ribbon-cutting to formally dedicate the Harlingen Convention Center.
